London Scottish Regiment
In October 1998 one of the London's most historic territorial infantry regiments, the London Scottish Regiment, discovered it was on a list to be scrapped in a cost cutting measure by the Ministry of Defence. The regiment engaged a public relations consultancy, and as part of a strategy to make the closing of the regiment as difficult & embarrassing as possible, a regimental website was created within four days. This was to lead the campaign against disbandment.
The site was a key to the visibility of the campaign. The speed with which it was constructed & posted on the Internet made the difference between the success and failure of this campaign. The LSR won the Institute of Public Relations /Cream Gold Award for 1999 in the low budget category. (1999)
